A private space to understand your patterns, ride out urges, and build the life you want — one day at a time.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. This app is a support tool — it supplements but never replaces professional care.
Questions, a bug, or an idea? We'd love to hear from you.
We aim to respond within a few business days.
When an urge hits, start the timer and ride it out with guided breathing, grounding exercises, or your own written reasons for quitting. Build a personal map of your cycle — trigger, build-up, giving in, acting out, aftermath — in your own words, and watch a simple wheel show you where you're actually getting stuck.
Everything you write is generated and stored entirely on your device. There is no account, no server, and nothing to sign up for.

Breaking the Cycle does not require an account and never asks for personal information. Your triggers, urges, journal entries, mood check-ins, and cycle data are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted to us, and we operate no servers that receive them. Journal summaries are generated entirely on-device using Apple's on-device language technology — nothing you write is ever sent anywhere.
Any reminders the app shows are scheduled and generated locally on your device — nothing is sent from a server.
Breaking the Cycle is free to use and supported by light advertising served by Google AdMob, shown only on a few neutral screens (never the journal, cycle map, coping tools, or crisis resources). AdMob may collect and process device information (such as advertising identifiers, IP address, and coarse location) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data practices. A one-time in-app purchase removes all ads.
On first launch, iOS will ask whether Breaking the Cycle may track your activity. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," ads will still appear but will not be personalized using cross-app identifiers. Your recovery data is never affected by this choice — it always stays on your device. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Breaking the Cycle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
